சமாதான பிரபு

 

ஏசாயா 9:6 - நமக்கு ஒரு பாலகன் பிறந்தார்; நமக்கு ஒரு குமாரன் கொடுக்கப்பட்டார்; கர்த்தத்துவம் அவர் தோளின்மேலிருக்கும்; அவர் நாமம் அதிசயமானவர், ஆலோசனைக்கர்த்தா, வல்லமையுள்ள தேவன், நித்திய பிதா, சமாதானப்பிரபு என்னப்படும்.

 

இயேசு சமாதான பிரபு என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்  - இந்த வசனத்தில் சமாதானம் என்பது "மனதிலும் இருதயத்திலும் உள்ள அமைதி" என்று பொருள்படும். யூதர்கள் "ஷாலோம்" என்றும் இஸ்லாமியர்கள் "சலேம்" என்றும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் வாழ்த்துவதுண்டு, இது ஒருவருக்கொருவர் சமாதானத்தை விரும்புவதை குறிக்கிறது. சாந்தி/ அமைதி/ சமாதானம் என்பன ஒன்றுடன் ஒன்று தொடர்புடைய வார்த்தைகள் ஆகும்.

 

அமைதியை பணத்தால் வாங்க முடியாது - பெரும் செல்வந்தர்கள் சமாதானத்துக்காக ஏங்குகிறார்கள், அமைதியைப் பெற போராடுகிறார்கள், சமாதானமின்மை மனஅழுத்தத்தையும் தூக்கமில்லாத இரவுகளையும் கொண்டுவருகிறது. வேதாகமம் வாக்களிக்கும் சமாதானம் சூழ்நிலைகளால் தீர்மானிக்கப் படுவதில்லை.

 

ஒரு மன்னர் தனது கலைஞர்களிடம் அமைதியை (சமாதானத்தை) வரையறுக்கும் ஒரு காட்சியை வரையச் சொன்னார் - அங்கு பல அழகான ஓவியங்களும், சிற்பங்களும் பல ஓவியர்களால் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது, மன்னர் முதல் பரிசுக்கான இரண்டு ஓவியங்களை தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். ஒன்று அழகான மலைகள் மற்றும் நீரோடைகளின் பின்னணியுடன் ஒரு அமைதியான சூழலுடன் இருந்தது. மற்றொரு படம் இதே போன்ற இயற்கைக்காட்சிகளைக் கொண்டிருந்தது ஆனால் பின்னணியில் புயல் மற்றும் மின்னல்களுடன் பரபரப்பாக இருந்தது. அரசன் அதனை உற்றுப்பார்த்தபோது, புயலின் நடுவே ஒரு பறவை தன் முட்டைகளை அமைதியாக அடைகாத்து கொண்டிருப்பதைக் கண்டான். "சமாதானம் என்பது வெளிப்புற காரணிகளால் தீர்மானிக்கப்படுவதில்லை, அது போராட்டங்கள் மற்றும் சிரமங்களுக்கு மத்தியில் இருதயத்தில் நிம்மதியாய் வாழ்வது" என்று அவர் இரண்டாவது ஓவியத்தை தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார்.

 

பதட்டம் மற்றும் அமைதியின்மை ஆகியவற்றின் விளைவு உயர் இரத்த அழுத்தம், மன அழுத்தம், பதட்டம் மற்றும் தூக்கமின்மை ஆகியவற்றை கொண்டு வருகிறது. இது மனிதர்களின் ஆயுளைக் குறைக்கிறது. வேதாகமம் போராட்டங்களுக்கு மத்தியில் சமாதானத்துடன் வாழ்வதை பற்றி பேசுகிறது - இது தேவனுடைய ஈவு, எல்லாராலும் அனுபவிக்க இயலாது. வேதத்தில் உள்ள பரிசுத்தவான்கள் போராட்டங்களின் மத்தியில் இருந்தபோது நிம்மதியாக உறங்கினார்கள்,

 

தாவீது - தன் மகன் அப்சலோமினால் துரத்தப்பட்டபோது, "சமாதானத்தோடே படுத்துக்கொண்டு நித்திரைசெய்வேன்; கர்த்தாவே, நீர் ஒருவரே என்னைச் சுகமாய்த் தங்கப்பண்ணுகிறீர்." (சங் 3:5; 4:8) என்றான்.

பேதுரு - அடுத்த நாள் கொலை செய்யப்படுவதை அறிந்தபோதும், நிம்மதியாக உறங்கினார் (அப் 12:6)

தானியேல் - சிங்கத்தின் கேபியில் நிம்மதியாக உறங்கி இறைவனைத் துதித்தார் (சிங்கத்தின் நடுவே தூங்கும் தனியேலின் படத்தை பார்த்திருப்பீர்கள்) தானியேல் 6:18-22. இரவு முழுவதும் ராஜா தூங்கவில்லை என்று வசனத்தில் பார்க்கிறோம்!!

 

புதிய ஏற்பாட்டில் இயேசு "சமாதானத்தின் தேவன்" என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறார், பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் காணப்படும் "சமாதான பிரபு"  தீர்க்கதரிசனம் எவ்வளவு பொருத்தமானது என்பதை நம்மால் காண முடியும்.

 

பிலி. 4:9 - நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் கற்றும் அடைந்தும் கேட்டும் கண்டும் இருக்கிறவைகளெவைகளோ, அவைகளையே செய்யுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது சமாதானத்தின் தேவன் உங்களோடிருப்பார்..

கொலோ. 3:15 - தேவசமாதானம் உங்கள் இருதயங்களில் ஆளக்கடவது, இதற்கென்றே நீங்கள் ஒரே சரீரமாக அழைக்கப்பட்டீர்கள்.

2 தெச. 3:16 - சமாதானத்தின் கர்த்தர்தாமே எப்பொழுதும் சகலவிதத்திலும் உங்களுக்குச் சமாதானத்தைத் தந்தருளுவாராக.

1 தெச. 5:23 - சமாதானத்தின் தேவன் தாமே உங்களை முற்றிலும் பரிசுத்தமாக்குவாராக; உங்கள் ஆவி ஆத்துமா சரீரம் முழுவதும், நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து வரும்போது குற்றமற்றதாயிருக்கும்படி காக்கப்படுவதாக.

ரோமர் 16:20 - சமாதானத்தின் தேவன் சீக்கிரமாய்ச் சாத்தானை உங்கள் கால்களின் கீழே நசுக்கிப்போடுவார். நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினுடைய கிருபை உங்களுடனேகூட இருப்பதாக.

 

இயேசு சமாதான பிரபு... ஏனெனில்

 

1. அவருடைய (இயேசு) பிறப்பு பூமிக்கு சமாதானத்தை கொண்டு வந்தது: (லூக்கா 2:8-14)

 

தேவதூதர் அறிவித்த செய்தி "இதோ, எல்லா ஜனத்துக்கும் மிகுந்த சந்தோஷத்தை உண்டாக்கும் நற்செய்தியை உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன்." (வச.10) அந்த நற்செய்தியானது (வச.14) "உன்னதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனுக்கு மகிமையும், பூமியிலே சமாதானமும், மனுஷர்மேல் பிரியமும் உண்டாவதாக" என்பதாகும்.

 

இயேசு பிறந்த நேரத்தில், முழு பூமியும் பல்வேறு காரணிகளால் பிளவுபட்டு கிடந்தது - தேவனால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட மக்கள் தங்கள் வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட (சொந்த) நிலத்தில் மிகுந்த போராட்டங்களில் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்கள் - அவர்கள் தங்கள் எதிரிகளிடமிருந்து தங்களை அரசியல் மற்றும் ஆவிக்குரிய நிலையில் விடுவிக்கும் ஒரு "மெசியா" வுக்காக காத்திருந்தனர். சுமார் 400 ஆண்டுகள் (மல்கியா முதல் மத்தேயு வரை); தேவனிடமிருந்து அவருடைய மக்களுக்கு எந்த வெளிப்பாடும், தீர்க்கதரிசனமும், தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் இல்லை. தேவனுடைய செயல்பாடு அவருடைய குமாரனை பூமிக்கு அனுப்புவதற்காக நிறுத்திவைக்க பட்டிருந்தது, இந்த காலம் மனித வரலாற்றில் "அமைதியான அல்லது இருண்ட காலம்" என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. ஜனங்கள் குழப்பத்திலும், ஆழ்ந்த வேதனையிலும், அரசியல் சீர்கேட்டிலும் இருந்தனர், அவை சரிசெய்யப்பட வேண்டும். யூத மக்கள் ரோமர்களின் ஆட்சியின் கீழ் இருந்தனர் - பாபிலோனிலிருந்து சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்ட பிறகு (சிறைப்பு Vs அடக்குமுறை) ரோமானியர்கள் அவர்கள் மீது பிரபுக்களாக இருந்தனர் - ரோம போர் வீரர்கள் யூத நகரங்களைக் காவல்காத்து மக்களை ஒடுக்கினர் (மத் 5:41 - ஒருவன் உன்னை ஒரு மைல் தூரம் வரப் பலவந்தம் பண்ணினால், அவனோடு இரண்டு மைல் தூரம் போ).

 

நான் அடிக்கடி இலங்கைக்கு செல்லும் போது, தமிழ் மக்கள் வாழும் பகுதிகள் சிங்களப் காவலர்களாலும், இராணுவத்தினராலும் பாதுகாக்கப்படுவதைக் கண்டேன், இது பூர்வ குடி தமிழர்களுக்கு அசௌகரியமான, எரிச்சலூட்டும் வாழ்க்கை. தமிழ் மக்கள் மீது அரசியல் கட்டுப்பாட்டை ஏற்படுத்தவும், அந்த பகுதியில் மக்கள் அரசியல் ரீதியாக கிளர்ச்சி செய்யக்கூடாது என்பதற்காக சிங்கள ராணுவம் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

இப்படிப்பட்ட எல்லா குழப்பங்களுக்கும், பிரச்சனைகளுக்கும் மத்தியில் - கிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பு பூமிக்கு "சமாதானத்தை" கொண்டு வந்தது. இயேசு பின்வரும் வாழ்வின் நிலைகளில் சமாதானத்தை கொண்டு வந்தார்.

 

அ. உள்ளான சமாதானம்: இருள், சந்தேகங்கள், பயம், அடிமைத்தனம் மற்றும் போராட்டங்களில் வாழ்ந்த மக்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் இயேசுவின் மூலம் சமாதானத்தையும் வெளிச்சத்தையும் அனுபவிக்க முடியும் (மத் 4:16; ஏசாயா 9:2). மனிதகுலம் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக உள்ளான சமாதானத்தை பெற ஏங்குகிறது - இதயத்தில் உள்ள சமாதானத்தின் வெற்றிடத்தை இயேசுவால் மட்டுமே நிரப்ப முடியும், அது அவர்களின் இதயங்களில் பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடும் சமாதானத்தை கொண்டுவருகிறது. லூக்கா 2:29 சீமோன், “ஆண்டவரே, உமது வார்த்தையின்படி உமது அடியேனை இப்பொழுது சமாதானத்தோடே போகவிடுகிறீர்” என்றார்.

 

ஆ. ஒருவருக்கொருவர் சமாதானம்: கிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பும், போதனைகளும் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் சமாதானத்தைக் கொண்டு வந்தன. ஜனங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவின் கட்டளைகளைப் பின்பற்றும்போது அவர்கள் கோபத்தையும் கசப்பையும் விலக்கி அமைதியான வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்கிறார்கள். துன்மார்க்கர் மனம்திரும்பி சமாதானம் சந்தோசத்துடன் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் நிம்மதியுடன் வாழ்கின்றனர். கிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பு அப்படிப்பட்ட சமாதானத்தை இலவசமாக வழங்கியது.

 

c. உலகளாவிய சமாதானம்: நாடுகளிடையே அமைதிக்கான தீர்வு கிறிஸ்துவில் மட்டுமே காணப்படுகிறது (இஸ்ரவேல் தேசத்தில் செயல்படும் "One for Israel" என்ற ஸ்தாபனம். மத்திய கிழக்கில் உள்ள பிரச்சனைகளுக்கு இயேசுவே தீர்வு என்று அதற்காக ஜெபிக்க அழைக்கிறது. யூதர்கள் மற்றும் அரேபியர்களில் கிறிஸ்துவை தங்கள் இரட்சகராக ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவர்கள் ஒன்றாக வாழ்கிறார்கள்)

 

ஈ. ஆன்மீக சமாதானம்: தேவனுடன் சமாதானம் (ரோமர் 5:1). தேவனுக்கும் மனித குலத்துக்கும் இடையே சீர்குலைந்த   உறவு கிறிஸ்துவால் மிகச்சரியாகச் சீர் செய்யப்பட்டது. பழைய உடன்படிக்கையின் கீழ் - பலி மற்றும் நியாயப்பிரமாண சட்டத்தை நிறைவேற்றியபோதும் அதன்  மூலம் ஜனங்கள் தேவளை தங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் அனுபவிக்க முடியாமல் இருந்தது. பாவம் தேவன் கொடுத்த சமாதானத்தை சீரழித்தது, கிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பின் மூலம் தேவனுடன் ஒப்புரவாகும் வாய்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியது.

 

சில நேரங்களில் தேவனுடனான சமாதானம் ஜனங்களுடன் பகைமையை ஏற்படுத்தும் (மத்தேயு 10:34-36). இயேசு அதைப் பற்றி எச்சரித்தார், உங்கள் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களால், உறவினர்களால், சமுதாயத்தால் நீங்கள் நிராகரிக்கப்படலாம், ஆனால் இயேசு நமக்கு வழங்கும் சமாதானத்தை யாராலும் பறிக்க முடியாது. கிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பு பூமியில் சமாதானத்தைக் கொண்டு வந்தது, ஏனெனில் அவர் சமாதான பிரபு.

 

2. அவருடைய (இயேசு) ஊழியம் ஜனங்களுக்கு சமாதானத்தைக் கொண்டு வந்தது

 

இயேசு ராஜ்யத்தின் சுவிசேஷத்தைப் பிரசங்கித்து, ஜனங்களை அவர்களுடைய வியாதி, கட்டுகள் மற்றும் பிசாசின் பிடியில் இருந்து அவர்களை சுகப்படுத்தினார், விடுவித்தார் என்று சுவிசேஷ புத்தகங்களில்  கிறிஸ்துவின் ஊழியத்தைப் பற்றி வாசிக்கிறோம். வியாதி, கட்டுகள், அடிமைத்தனம், குறைவுகள், வறுமை, போன்றவற்றில் வாழும் ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்வில் தேவ சமாதானத்தை அனுபவிக்க முடியாது. இயேசு ஜனங்களின் பிரச்சனைகளை சரிசெய்து அவர்களின் வாழ்வில் சமாதானத்தை மீட்டெடுத்தார்.

 

லூக்கா 8:48ல் – 12 வருடங்களாக பெரும்பாடுள்ள ஒரு ஸ்திரி தன் வியாதியில் இருந்து குணமடைந்ததைப் பற்றி வாசிக்கிறோம். இயேசுவின் ஆடைகளைத் தொட்டு அவள் குணமான பின் இயேசு சொன்ன வார்த்தைகள், “மகளே, திடன்கொள், உன் விசுவாசம் உன்னை இரட்சித்தது, சமாதானத்தோடே போ.”

மாற்கு 5:15 - லேகியோன் பிசாசு பிடித்திருந்த ஒரு மனிதன் இயேசுவினால் குணமாக்கப்பட்டு "புத்தி தெளிந்து" உட்காந்திருந்தான்.

(சேலம் அருகில் ஊழியம் செய்த ஒரு போதகரின் அனுபவத்தில், ஒரு முரட்டாட்டமுள்ள மனிதன் அவருடைய ஊழியத்தை எதிர்த்தார் - அவர் கிராமத்தை காலி செய்ய காலக்கெடுவைக் கொடுத்தார். அவர் ஊரை காலிசெய்ய தனது பொருட்களை தயார் செய்தபோது அந்த மனிதனின் மகளுக்கு பிசாசு பிடித்திருந்தது, அவரை காலி செய்ய சொன்ன அதே மனிதன் ஜெபிக்க வந்தான். போதகர் ஜெபித்த பொது அவளை தேவன் விடுவித்தார். இப்போது அவர் அதே ஊழியத்தில் மூப்பராக உள்ளார் - நம்முடைய தேவன் சமாதானக்காரணர், சமாதான பிரபு)

யோவான் 2:1-10 - பற்றாக்குறை/வறுமை வாழ்வில் சமாதானமின்மையை கொண்டுவருகிறது. இயேசு தேவைகளை நிறைவேற்றி, குழப்பத்தை மாற்றி கானாவில் நடந்த திருமணத்தில் சமாதானத்தை நிலை நாட்டினார்.

 

இன்றும் கூட கட்டுகள், அடிமைத்தனம், வியாதி மற்றும் பற்றாக்குறையுடன் தம்மிடம் வரும் மக்களுக்கு இயேசு சமாதானத்தை வழங்குகிறார், ஏனென்றால் அவர் "சமாதான பிரபு".

 

3. அவருடைய (இயேசு) வார்த்தைகள் இன்றும் நமக்கு சமாதானத்தைத் தருகின்றன (யோவான் 14:27)

 

கலங்கிய இதயங்களுக்கு சமாதானத்தை அளிக்கும் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தை இன்று நம் கையில் உள்ளது. தம்முடைய ஜீவனுள்ள வார்த்தைகளால் இன்றும் நம்மோடு பேசும் “சமாதான பிரபு” இயேசு. அவருடைய வார்த்தைகள் ஜனங்களை ஆறுதல்படுத்துகிறது அவர்களின் கலங்கிய இதயங்களுக்கு சமாதானத்தைத் தருகின்றன.

 

இந்த பூமியில் உள்ள மகிழ்ச்சி/சந்தோஷம்/சமாதானம் தற்காலிகமானது. உள்ளான அமைதிக்கான தீர்வாக  வெளிப்புற சூழ்நிலைகள் ஒருபோதும் இருக்க முடியாது. நீங்கள் வாங்கும் பொருட்கள் குறுகிய காலத்திற்கு உங்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியைத் தரும், அது எதிர்பார்ப்பை உருவாக்குகிறது, ஆனால் நீங்கள் அதைப் பெற்றவுடன் மற்ற பொருளை நோக்கி மனம் அலைபாய்கிறது, இது தொடர்ந்து செல்லும் திருப்தியற்ற சுழற்சி நிலை. இயேசு வழங்கும் தேவசமாதானம் நீங்கள் கடினமான சூழ்நிலைகளை கடந்து சென்றாலும் கூட நிலைத்திருக்கிறது. அவருடைய வார்த்தைகள் பலவிதங்களில் நமக்கு ஆறுதலையும் அமைதியையும் தருகின்றன. அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளை வாசிப்பதால், கேட்பதால், வாழ்வின் நிகழ்வுகளால் தேவன் நம் உள்ளத்தில் பேசுகிறார், பயத்தை நீக்கி சமாதானத்தை கொடுக்கிறார். மரணத்தை அச்சமின்றி எதிர்கொள்ள தேவனுடைய சமாதானம் நமக்கு உதவுகிறது.

 

பிலி 4:6-7: நீங்கள் ஒன்றுக்குங் கவலைப்படாமல், எல்லாவற்றையுங்குறித்து உங்கள் விண்ணப்பங்களை ஸ்தோத்திரத்தோடே கூடிய ஜெபத்தினாலும் வேண்டுதலினாலும் தேவனுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துங்கள். அப்பொழுது, எல்லாப் புத்திக்கும் மேலான தேவசமாதானம் உங்கள் இருதயங்களையும் உங்கள் சிந்தைகளையும் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள்ளாகக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்..

 

தேவனுடைய சமாதானம் நம்மை எல்லா சூழ்நிலைகளிலும் திருப்தியுடன், மனரம்மியமாக வாழ வைக்கிறது: பிலி 4:11-13: என் குறைச்சலினால் நான் இப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறதில்லை; ஏனெனில் நான் எந்த நிலைமையிலிருந்தாலும் மனரம்மியமாயிருக்கக் கற்றுக்கொண்டேன். தாழ்ந்திருக்கவும் எனக்குத் தெரியும், வாழ்ந்திருக்கவும் எனக்குத் தெரியும்; எவ்விடத்திலும் எல்லாவற்றிலும் திருப்தியாயிருக்கவும் பட்டினியாயிருக்கவும், பரிபூரணமடையவும் குறைவுபடவும் போதிக்கப்பட்டேன். என்னைப் பெலப்படுத்துகிற கிறிஸ்துவினாலே எல்லாவற்றையுஞ்செய்ய எனக்குப் பெலனுண்டு.

 

கொலோ 3:15 - தேவசமாதானம் உங்கள் இருதயங்களில் ஆளக்கடவது, இதற்கென்றே நீங்கள் ஒரே சரீரமாக அழைக்கப்பட்டீர்கள்

 

சங்கீதம் 119:165 - உம்முடைய வேதத்தை நேசிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு மிகுந்த சமாதானமுண்டு; அவர்களுக்கு இடறலில்லை.

 

சமாதான பிரபு - இயேசு கிறிஸ்து உங்கள் இருதயங்களையும் மனதையும் நிரப்பட்டும். உங்களுக்கு பயம், பதட்டம், மன அழுத்தம் ஆகியவை உள்ளதா நீங்கள் இயேசுவிடம் வாருங்கள். உங்கள் பாரங்களை நீக்கி விடுதலை தரும் இயேசு காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார் (மத்தேயு 11:28) "அவர் சமாதான பிரபு" என்பதால் அவரிடம் நிலையான, நித்தியமான சமாதானத்தை பெற முடியும். அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளைப் படியுங்கள், தியானியுங்கள் உங்கள் இருதயங்களை சமாதானத்தால் நிரப்புங்கள்.

 

தேவன்  உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக.

NAMES OF JESUS: PRINCE OF PEACE

 

Isaiah 9:6 - For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

 

Jesus will be called the Prince of Peace – Peace in this verse is all about “Rest in mind and heart” Jews wish one another with “Shalom” and Muslims “Salem” which all means pronouncing peace upon one another. Shanthi/ Amaithi/ Samathanam are relative meanings.

 

Peace cannot be purchased with money - Millionaire struggle to get peace inspite of the accumulation of wealth. Most of them struggle with stress and sleepless nights. The peace that the Bible promises is not determined by the circumstances, but a state of mind.

A King was asking his artists to draw a perfect picture defining peace – there were many beautiful paintings and arts were brought where the king chose two pictures for the first price. One had calm, quiet waters with the background of beautiful mountains and streams. The other had similar scenery in the front but the background had storm, lightning and thunder. As the king noticed, amidst the storm he found a bird hatching her eggs peacefully. He selected the second one saying that “Peace is not determined by external factors, it is amidst struggles and difficulties living calm in the heart.”

The results of anxiety and lack of peace result in high BP, Stress, Anxiety, and Insomnia. It reduces the lifespan of people. The Bible speaks of peace in the midst of struggles – which is the gift of God that not everyone enjoys. The heroes in the scripture slept peacefully when they had tonnes of worries,

 

David – while he was chased by his son Absalom said – “I will sleep in peace” (Ps 3:5/4:8)

Peter – knowing that he will be executed the next day, slept peacefully (Act 12:6)

Daniel – Slept peacefully in Lion’s den and praise the Lord (Picture of Daniel sleeping amid Lion often depicted) Dan 6:18-22. The king did not sleep throughout the night!!

 

Jesus in the New Testament named “The God of Peace” how suitable to the Old Testament prophecy that speaks about “The Prince of Peace.”

 

Phil 4:9 - The God of peace will be with you.

Col 3:15 - Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

2 Thes 3:16 - Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

1 Thes 5:23 - May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom 16:20 - The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

 

Jesus is the prince of Peace… Because

 

1.      HIS (JESUS) BIRTH BROUGHT PEACE TO THE EARTH: (LUKE 2:8-14)

 

The angel declared ” I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people” (v.10) which is v.14 - “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

 

At the time of Jesus’ Birth, the whole Earth was divided by various factors –God’s chosen people did not have a peaceful life in their promised (own) land – They waited for a “Messiah” who would come and deliver them from their enemies politically and spiritually. There are about 400 years (From Malachi to Matthew); there was no revelation from God to his people, no prophets, or interventions from God. This period is called the “Silent period or Dark age” in human history. People were in confusion, deep anguish, and political disorder which were to be repaired. The Jewish people were under the rule of Romans – after the captivity from Babylon (Captivity Vs Oppression). The Romans were lords over them – The soldiers were guarding the Jewish towns and oppressing people (Matt 5:41 – If someone forces you for a mile, go with them two miles).

 

As I visit Srilanka often, I saw the areas where Tamil people live were guarded by the Sinhalese police and army which is an uncomfortable life for the native Tamils. To establish political control over the Tamil people, the Sinhalese army is kept to guard that area so that people would not politically rebel against them.

 

In the midst of all the confusion and disorder – the birth of Christ brought “peace” to the earth. Jesus brought peace in the following areas,

 

a.       Internal Peace: People who lived in darkness, doubts, fear, bondage, and struggles can experience peace and light in their lives (Matt 4:16; Isaiah 9:2). Humanity was longing to have internal peace for centuries – the void in the heart can only be filled with God which brings great peace in their hearts. Luke 2:29 Simon said, “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss  your servant in peace.”

b.      Interpersonal Peace: Peace with one another. The birth and teachings of Christ brought peace to one another. When people follow the commands of Christ they keep away anger and bitterness and live a peaceful life. The birth of Christ offered that freely.

c.       International Peace: The solution for peace among the nations is only found in Christ (One for Israel Ministries stresses “Christ” as the solution for problems in the Middle East. It is those who accepted Christ as their savior from Jews and Arabs who live peacefully – not striving or oppressing others)

d.      Spiritual Peace: Peace with God (Romans 5:1). The broken relationship between God and humanity was perfectly repaired by Christ. Under the Old Covenant – through sacrifice and Mossiac law people could never experience God in their lives. Sin destroyed the peace that God offered, it was the birth of Christ that restored hope to reconcile with God through Christ Jesus.

 

Sometimes peace with God will bring conflict with people (Caution: Matthew 10:34-36). Jesus warned about it, you may be rejected by your family members, community, and relatives but nobody can take away the peace that Jesus offers to us. The birth of Christ brought peace to the earth since He is the prince of peace.

 

2.      HIS (JESUS) MINISTRY BROUGHT PEACE TO THE PEOPLE

 

We read about the ministry of Christ in the gospels where Jesus was preaching the gospel of the Kingdom and healed/delivered people from their bondage. People who live in sickness, bondage, shortages, poverty, and sorrow cannot experience the peace of God in their lives. Jesus rectified the troubles of people and restored peace to their lives.

 

Luke 8:48 – We read about the healing of a woman who was struggling with bleeding for 12 years. Jesus offered her healing by the touch of his garments and said to her “Go with Peace – Your faith has healed you”

Mark 5:15 – A man possessed with demons (Legion) got healed and sat in his right mind.

(A believer of Pr. Abel was opposing the ministry – he gave a deadline to vacate the village. His daughter was demon-possessed, the pastor prayed and delivered her. As of now he is the elder in the church – God offered peace to him)

John 2:1-10 – Shortage/poverty brings distress in life. Jesus fulfilled the need of the hour and established peace in the wedding at Cana.

 

Even today Jesus offers peace to the people who come to Him with addiction, bondage, sickness, and shortages because He is the “Prince of Peace.”

 

3.      HIS (JESUS) WORDS BRING PEACE TO US EVEN TODAY (JOHN 14:27)

 

We have the word of God/Christ in our hands that gives peace to troubled hearts even today. Jesus is the “Prince of Peace” who speaks to us even today with His living words. It comforts people and gives peace to their troubled hearts.

 

The joy/happiness/peace on this earth is temporary. It happens through outer circumstances which can never be the solution for inner peace. Things that you buy will give you happiness for a short period, it creates anticipation, but once you get it everything goes normal. The peace of God that Jesus offers stays still even you go through hard circumstances. His words comfort and console us in many different ways. Through reading, hearing, life experiences, and events, God speaks into our hearts to remove fear. The peace of God enables us to face death without fear.

 

Phil 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 

The peace of God makes us live in content in every situation: Phil 4:11-13: I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

 

Col 3:15 - Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

 

Psalm 119:165 - Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

 

Let the Prince of Peace – Jesus Christ fill your hearts and minds. Do you have fear, anxiety, and stress come to Him with your burdens, he will give you peace and remove the heavy laden that you are carrying (Matthew 11:28). Read and meditate on His words which will give you eternal peace because “HE IS THE PRINCE OF PEACE.”

What is Christmas? Asked in Developed Western Countries?

    ·         61% Said Being around the family and Friends

·         12% Said Break from Work and Worries

·         10% Said Celebrations and Decorations

·         5%  Said Exchanging Gifts

·         12% Said the Birth of Jesus

The Birth of Christ Jesus and the message that Christmas brought into the world is not related to just a baby or a birthday celebration. Even though there are lot of debates about the December 25^th celebrated as Christmas but it is certain that Christ was born and saved the Humanity from divine wrath.

The names mentioned in the New Testament for Christ has divine significance because it reveals the true message of Christmas to the world. The Biblical names in itself has significance related to their personalities – most of the times there was reason and attributes related to the given names.

We could see four names given for Christ in the New Testament and the message we get out of those names,

1.      Christmas Proclaims the Message of Salvation: (JESUS)

The name “Jesus” was revealed both to Joseph and Mary prior to the birth of Christ Jesus (Matthew 1:20-23; Luke 1:30-33)

Mat 1:21, “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (To Joseph)

Luke 1:31, “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.” (To Mary)

Jesus (NT) - Iesus (Gk) – Yeshua (Heb) – Joshua (OT) all has the same meaning “Savior” someone who saves people who are in the bondages. The purpose of Jesus’ birth mentioned in both the above passages can be summarized as follows,

·         Jesus Came to Save the World

·         Jesus Came to Establish the Kingdom of God (God’s Kingdom)

·         Jesus Came to rule and reign forever

1 John 2:2, “He (Jesus) is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world”

Greatest message about Christmas in the Gospel is “God So Loved the World” (John 3:16). The name Jesus means “Savior” and He saves people even today from the bondage of sin and darkness. The real Christmas tree can be found without leaves in the mount of Calvary (The Cross). The birth of Jesus boldly proclaims the message of Salvation even today.

Jesus can save you even today! If you are a believer share the message of salvation to the lost world.

2.      Christmas Proclaims the Message of Hope: (IMMANUEL) “God With Us”

The name “Immanuel” was prophesied in the Old Testament (Isaiah 7:14) and fulfilled at the birth of Christmas. Matthew 1:22-23: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Christian faith is unique – It teaches “God with people” NOT “People becoming god” NOR “People looking for god.” The God of the Bible is communicable, imminent and relational personality. Genesis 1 we read about God speaks, reveals and lets people know who He is. He is not hidden or lives far away from people.

“God with Us” (Immanuel) is a message of Hope which often reminds people that they no longer need to be in despair, isolation, rejection, separation or in loneliness. Immanuel is with us, no matter we go away from Him, He is with us to still the storm.

A very loving phrase of God “I will never leave you nor forsake you” is found multiple times in the Bible (Deut 31:6, 8; Joshua 1:5,6; 1 Chr. 28:20; Isaiah 41:10; Mat 28:20). Relations, parents, friends and family might forsake you but God gives hope out of hopelessness with His divine presence.

The name “Immanuel” signifies that God is with us - no need to feel rejection, loneliness, isolation – God will give you hope out of hopelessness.

Irish story – Christina a young girl wanted to live free and without any control on her single mother. One day left home, thinking that she got freedom but lost in the world. Years passed by she felt rejection, despair and anguish wanted to go back home but felt of guilty. He mother with her old picture searched everywhere and wherever she went nailed a picture of her. Christina found one of such pictures and looked backside. It was written, “Whatever you have done, Whatever you have become doesn’t matter – please come home.” The words brought her tears and went back to her mother’s house. She found hope back in her.” Jesus calls people with bondage and heavy burdens to come to him and find hope in him (Matthew 11:28)

3.      Christmas Proclaims the Message of Redemption: (CHRIST) “Messiah”

The message about the birth of Christ was proclaimed to the poor shepherds in Luke 2:11, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Christ means Messiah, Redeemer, Lord, Anointed one of God.

Messiah in Jewish understanding is someone who is born of David’s lineage, sits in David’s throne, and redeems the people from all oppression. The term “Redeemer” means someone who pays a price and redeems them out of bondage or darkness. In the book of Ruth we read about the “Kinsman Redeemer” who redeemed someone’s property and relationship.

The redemption of sin in the Old Testament was through the sacrifice or blood of animals or birds. If a person meets with an accident – blood transmission from another person is the only hope of survival – no other blood could save him. A sinner can be redeemed by the sinless person that is through “Christ, the Messiah”

Christ redeems people from their sins, darkness and eternal death even today. Have your sins are forgiven? If so are you spreading the message of redemption through “Christ”

4.      Christmas Proclaims the Message of Restoration: (NAZARENE)

Mat 2: 23, “... and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.”

Matthew 2 ends with another name “Nazarene” of course mentioned as said through the prophets but we don’t see the proper name in the prophetical books where as we can see others who took on the “Nazarite” vow in the Old Testament.

Nazer (Heb) means Branch. Christ restores what was lost or cut off or broken. Isaiah 10:13-11:1 we read about the judgement on “Israel” for their disobedience and God gives the analogy of “Cut down trees” spiritually. The left out stem later got branches and produce fruits (11:1)

Isaiah 11:1, “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.” Christ restores whatever is cut down, lost or broken and makes them fruitful. If you lost something today, God can produce/restore them out of nothing. The restoration often seems the upside down of all negativities we are going through...

·         From sin to Holiness

·         From nothing to everything

·         From empty to plenty

·         From darkness to light

·         From brokenness to mending

·         From evil to good

Joel 2:25-26, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”

The message that Christmas proclaims us – Christ restores everything you lost and cut off, because He is a Nazarene.

CONCLUSION:

Christmas proclaims the messages of...

·         Salvation (He will be called Jesus)

·         Hope (Immanuel – God with us)

·         Redemption – (Christ, the Messiah)

·         Restoration (The Nazarene)
